Oregon State vs University of Oregon

After going to a local bakery for a football themed cake for the upcoming Oregon State vs. University of Oregon game, a friend discovered it would cost $100 because of the holidays. Not wanting to pay them that amount he asked if I could work something out. For the amount of people, we decided on cookies. I made my popular ones with a bit more color!

University of Oregon Shortbread Swirl

Oregon State shortbread swirl

Some of the shortbread had sprinkles, some had colored sugar.

Found these football trays. Perfect for the theme! Sadly, my colors were not as vibrant as I had hoped.
Go Ducks!
Cookie dough truffles, shortbread, double chocolate, and peanut butter.

Go Beavers!

Our First Dumpster Dive

Ok, we didn't truly dumpster dive. We recycle bin searched. After searching the internet and thrift stores for weeks, for certain shaped bottles, we came up empty. Or found the asking price far higher than we wanted to pay. By accident we spent the day searching nearby neighborhoods recycling bins.
I have a plant growing from my Buddha beer bottle. My sister said to me a few days ago that she wanted a Buddha bottle. While we were Recycle Binning I found one!

After getting the bottles home, I boiled them for 10 or so mins., removed the labels and any remaining sticky bits with nail polish remover. I'll wash them again to do a final clean.

Among our finds, a round vinegar bottle which, to me, looks like a potion bottle. An orange and red bowl, my cat will enjoy his meals from. Awesome square bottles. And a few handfuls of corks!

Princess Sofia Cake

The What: Princess Sofia birthday cake.

I knew I wanted to make the cake look like Princess Sofia's dress and purple. That's it! I drew out some ideas... A lot of ideas! Made a modeling chocolate tiara. Later I ix nayed the idea.
I ended up doing 4 alternating layers of 2 different purples and white buttercream frosting.

The finished cake.

Rolled the fondant into 'pearls'. store bought candy pearls for the edge of the dress.

The first cut! My favorite!
